India vs New Zealand Cricket Series 2008-09

IND v NZ, 2nd T20, Wellington: New Zealand clinch last ball win against India (NZ 2:0)

New Zealand beat India by five wickets in the second and final Twenty20 cricket international in Wellington to take the series 2-0.
Brendon McCullum broke the deadlock on the last ball of the match when a skied single carried the hosts to 150 for five. McCullum topscored with an unbeaten 69 from 55 balls.
Yuvraj Singh led India's 149 for six with 50 off 34 balls. New Zealand won the opening match by seven wickets in Christchurch on Wednesday.
Brendon McCullum was declared "Man of the Match" and "Man of the Series". A five-match cone-day series between the teams starts in Napier on Tuesday.
IND v NZ, 2nd T20, Wellington: New Zealand 150-5 (20.0 overs) beat India 149-6 (20.0 overs) by 5 wickets

IND v NZ, 1st T20, Christchurch: New Zealand thrashes India in tour opener (NZ 1:0)

Brendon McCullum made 56 not out and shared an unbroken 60-run partnership with Jacob Oram to lead New Zealand to a seven-wicket win over India on Wednesday in the first of two Twenty20 cricket internationals.
McCullum fashioned a restrained half century from 48 balls with three sixes and two fours to steer New Zealand past India's total of 162 for eight with seven balls to spare. New Zealand was 166 for three in the 19th over when Oram (29 not out) struck the game's 41st six to clinch the win.
India's innings, highlighted by an unbeaten 61 by Suresh Raina, included 13 sixes, one fewer than the record for a single innings in a Twenty20 international. When New Zealand peppered the short boundaries at AMI Stadium with 11 more sixes, delighting a crowd in excess of 16,000, it established a record for most sixes in an international Twenty20 match.
The second match is at Wellington on Friday. The tour also involves a limited-overs series and three test matches.
IND v NZ, 1st T20, Christchurch: New Zealand 166-3 (18.5 overs) beat India 162-8 (20.0 overs) by 7 wickets

Australia vs New Zealand Cricket Series 2008-09

AUS v NZ, Twenty20, Sydney: Australia beat New Zealand by a run in T20 thriller

Brendon McCullum's sizzling 61 off 47 balls went in vain as Australia bowled exceptionally well at the death to eke out a thrilling one run victory in the see-saw one-off Twenty20 International cricket match at Sydney.
Chasing 151, New Zealand came close to overwhelming the target before losing McCullum at a crucial juncture and eventually finishing at 149 for five wickets. Needing 14 runs off the last over of the bowling of Nathan Bracken, Nathan McCullum (10 not out) -- Brendon's elder brother -- hit a four and a six off the last two balls but that was still not enough in the end.
Earlier, a Brad Haddin-led Australia got off to a brisk start before losing momentum and it took useful contributions from David Hussey (41), Adam Voges (26) and David Warner (23) to reach a modest total of 150 for seven. Chasing 151, New Zealand got off to a wobbly start after Peter Siddle removed in-form Martin Guptill (0) and Peter Fulton (1) off successive overs to reduce the visitors to 12 for two.
However, Brendon McCullum and Neil Broom (36) steadied the rocking Kiwi boat with a 61-run stand in eight-odd overs which put the visitors back on the track.
AUS v NZ, Twenty20, Sydney: Australia 150-7 (20.0 overs) beat New Zealand 149-5 (20.0 overs) by 1 run

India in Sri Lanka Cricket Series 2009

IND v SL, T20, Colombo: Pathan brothers lead India to Twenty20 win

Brothers Irfan and Yusuf Pathan plundered 59 runs off 25 balls as world champions India posted a thrilling three-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the one-off Twenty20 international match at Colombo on Tuesday.
India were struggling at 115-7 chasing a 172-run target before the Pathan duo steered their side home with four balls to spare in the first-ever Twenty20 game in Sri Lanka.
Yusuf, who had earlier taken two wickets with his off-spin, remained unbeaten with a 10-ball 22 with the help of two sixes and one boundary. He was named man of the match for his all-round display. His younger brother Irfan finished the match when he swung paceman Lasith Malinga over mid-wicket for a six. He cracked two sixes and as many boundaries in his 16-ball 33 not out.
"There are a lot of youngsters in our team and stiff matches like these are a great learning experience. Their spinners bowled really well and made our batsmen struggle," said India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Sri Lanka skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan (61) earlier smashed a maiden half-century to help his side set a challenging target after being dropped in the opening over. He had yet to open his account at that stage.
IND v SL, T20, Colombo: India 174-7 (19.2 overs) beat Sri Lanka 171-4 (20.0 overs) by 3 wickets
